Kota Kinabalu: A 46-year-old man was fined RM1,900, or two months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for damaging a house grille.
Giffry Sudirman pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to damaging the grille door of Azalina Mohd Yamen’s house at PPR Sri Serigai, Putatan, at about 1.15pm on Aug 6.
He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum one-year jail term, or a fine, or both, on conviction.
The court heard that the complainant was at home when she heard the grille door being shaken and struck with a hard object believed to be an iron rod.
A few minutes later, she opened the door but found no one outside. She then inspected the grille and discovered that one of its bars had been broken.
CCTV footage from a neighbour’s house showed an unidentified man striking the grille with an iron rod.
Based on information from neighbours, the man was identified as Giffry, who lives on the floor below the complainant’s unit.
The court was also informed that the cost of repairing the grille was RM120.
In a separate case, a 30-year-old man was fined RM100, or three days’ jail, for failing to provide a reasonable explanation for receiving RM1,000 into his bank account.
Roslansah Ramil admitted to having RM1,000 belonging to Chung Lee Fub @ Margaret, which was credited into his Affin Bank account on April 21, 2025.
He failed to provide a reasonable explanation for how he obtained the money.
Roslansah was charged under Section 22A(1) of the Sabah Minor Offences Ordinance, which carries a fine of up to RM100, or imprisonment of up to three months, or both, upon conviction.
