
PAPAR: A 32-year-old man died on the spot after his car crashed along Km 21 Jalan Lama Papar-Kota Kinabalu, here, Monday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred at around 6am when the victim lost control of his Proton Satria while on his way to Kampung Buang Sayang from Kota Kinabalu.
After losing control, the car veered into the U-turn lane and crashed into the guardrail.
Kamaruddin said the victim succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead by a Papar Hospital Medical Officer and the body was sent to the hospital for post mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a team of 10 personnel led by Senior Officer Norman Karim rushed to the scene after being notified at 6.17am.
Upon arriving the scene, he said the team immediately carried out operation to extricate the victim from the vehicle.
The body was then handed over to police for further action, he added.
