KOTA KINABALU – A man suspected of killing his wife was found injured at workers’ quarters in Lahad Felda Umas 6, Tawau, on Monday.
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the 38-year-old Indonesian labourer was found with injuries to his throat.
His 37-year-old wife was also found unconscious with multiple injuries to her head, neck and arms, he said.
“We received a call at 4.55pm and a team was sent to investigate,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said medical personnel later confirmed that the woman had died.
“The man was taken to hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said, adding that the man is the main suspect.
Rosdi said the couple had just returned from a short holiday and were believed to have had a heated argument on the day of the incident.
However, he said the circumstances surrounding the incident were still being investigated.
Police recovered a stick and a sickle from the scene and brought them to the police station for further investigation.
Rosdi said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
