MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the suspension of afternoon classes at all levels in both public and private schools on Thursday, as the southwest monsoon (habagat) continued to bring rain across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The suspension was issued following a recommendation from the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD).
"According to the MCDRRMD, thunderstorm conditions are ongoing as of this morning, with another expected this afternoon," Moreno said in an advisory.
Institutions are advised to transition to Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM).
