
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Palawan 1st District representative Franz Josef George Alvarez as the new acting president and chief executive officer of the Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC).
This was confirmed by Malacañang on Wednesday. Marcos signed Alvarez’s appointment letter on May 13, 2026.
Alvarez will replace Joel Caminade.
Alvarez also served as president and CEO of PNOC Exploration Corp., a subsidiary of PNOC.
The PNOC is the primary government corporate entity overseeing the exploration and development of the country’s various energy resources to ensure sufficient and stable energy supply.
