
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed former Palawan 1st District Representative Franz Josef George Alvarez as the new acting president and chief executive officer of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC).
This was confirmed by Malacañang on Wednesday after Marcos signed Alvarez’s appointment letter on May 13, 2026.
Alvarez will be taking over the PNOC’s reins from Ma. Cristina Sheila Canag Cabaraban
Prior to his new position, Alvarez also served as president and CEO of PNOC Exploration Corporation, a subsidiary of PNOC.
The PNOC is the primary government corporate entity overseeing the exploration and development of the country’s various energy resources to ensure sufficient and stable energy supply.
