Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s bodybuilder Meilaura Dora Jimmy captured a bronze medal in the Women’s Bodybuilding Up to 55kg category at the 58th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand over the weekend.
She was originally slated to compete in the Over 55kg category, but faced an unexpected challenge.
“I was supposed to compete in the Over 55kg category, but due to a lack of participants, I had to move down to the Up to 55kg category,” she explained.
Despite the last-minute change, she still managed to secure a podium spot alongside compatriot Siti Hadjar, who took home the gold medal.
In a statement on Monday, the Sabah Bodybuilding Association congratulated the athlete from Penampang and lauded her consistent performance, highlighting her back-to-back gold medals in the 2024 and 2025 championships.
After capturing the Up to 55kg crown in Batam, Indonesia, in 2024, she successfully retained her title in 2025 while earning the Most Improved Athlete award.
Her latest triumph extends far beyond personal glory, serving as a powerful inspiration for aspiring bodybuilders and elevating Malaysian bodybuilding on the international stage.
