The annual Met Gala always grabs the headlines as fashion's great, good, bad and ugly mix in an eye-popping spectacle of haute couture and viral moments.
This year's event was perhaps overshadowed however by an absence of stars who opted to stay away in protest at its sponsorship by Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Laura Sánchez-Bezos.
Nonetheless, hundreds of celebrities, ranging from A-list actors, chart-topping musicians and top sports stars did attend to celebrate the theme of 'Costume Art'; after all, the hugely expensive fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute is a global platform and one of the world's most closely scrutinised red carpets.
