Middlesbrough are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.
The 32-year-old is not in the plans of Magpies boss Eddie Howe for the coming season.
He has been training with the club's reserves, and will be sold as soon as possible.
According to Football Insider, the Middlesbrough coaching staff do want to secure Gayle.
However, Boro chairman Steve Gibson is reluctant to pay a significant fee and wages for a player over 30.
He is hoping they can scout a player who is younger and has more resale value.
