Mikal Bridges only had one request ahead of the New York Knicks’ championship parade, and the NBA champion got his wish.
New York is preparing to celebrate its first NBA title in 53 years with a historic ticker-tape parade through Lower Manhattan, giving Knicks players the chance to share the moment with the fans who waited decades to see the franchise back on top.
For Bridges, though, there was one detail he cared about more than anything else.

Bridges gave the most wholesome answer when asked about the Knicks parade
Appearing on Good Morning America alongside Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby, Bridges was asked by Michael Strahan what he was most looking forward to when the championship parade rolled through New York.
While there were countless reasons for the Knicks to be excited about the celebration, Bridges kept his answer simple.
“I just want to bring my dog on the float. That’s it.”
The response quickly resonated with fans, particularly those familiar with Sonny, Bridges’ eight-year-old yellow Labrador retriever who regularly appears on the Knicks forward’s social media accounts.
After everything the team had achieved during its championship run, Bridges’ biggest concern was making sure his dog could be part of the celebration too.
Sonny will officially be part of the championship celebrations
At the time Bridges made the request, there was no guarantee that Sonny would be joining the parade. That uncertainty did not last long.
Shortly afterwards, Bridges confirmed that his wish had been granted with a social media update that delighted Knicks fans.
“It’s official: Sonny’s got a spot on the float. See y’all tomorrow!”
The announcement means Sonny will now be part of one of the biggest days in recent Knicks history as the franchise celebrates its first championship since 1973.
For Bridges, the parade was always going to be special. The fact that he’ll be sharing it with his favourite companion only makes the occasion even better.
