CALVIN Abueva and combo guard Mikey Williams are expected to make their anticipated debut with Converge as the FiberXers clash with foreign squad Macau Black Knights in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup opening day on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The FiberXers are parading a rejigged roster following several trades in the conference break, that also saw the team acquire James Kwekuteye, big man Jonnel Policarpio and Kurt Reyson.

Of course, the biggest additions are Abueva and Williams, the two-time PBA champion, who is back in the pro league after being away for three years.

A contract issue kept the 6-foot-2 Williams away from the league, shortly after the two-time Finals MVP led TNT to the 2023 Governors’ Cup crown.

The Fil-American guard was eventually traded by TNT to Converge in July 2025 in exchange for Jordan Heading.

Now, the Delta Pineda-coached Converge hopes to make a big push for the championship when it battles Macau at 7:30 p.m.

Adding size and a defensive presence is American import Kylor Kelley, who’s expected to form a deadly, tall frontline with Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar.

And of course, adding further excitement and instant offense are guards Alec Stockton and rookie Juan Gomez De Liano, who are fresh from the PBA All-Star game last Sunday in Candon City.

Macau will be parading former Magnolia import Tony Mitchell, with 7-foot-6 Maltese giant Sam Deguara opting to play in Taiwan’s P.LEAGUE+.

Macau head coach Garrett Kelly confirmed through the team’s Instagram account, that Deguara won’t play for the Black Knights since he’s already playing in Taiwan.

Deguara averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists for his Taiwanese squad Yankey Ark.

Mitchell will get the needed scoring support from Damian Chong Qui and Phoenix Shackleford, two key stalwarts for the Black Knights in their recent stint in the East Asia Super League Season 3.

Meanwhile, the 5:15 p.m. curtain raiser features Titan Ultra and Terrafirma, two teams that will try to redeem themselves after failing to get past the elimination round in the Philippine Cup.
