TENOM: A man reported missing on Tuesday is suspected to have jumped off Binai Bridge along Jalan Tenom Entabuan.
District Police Chief Supt Azmir B Abd Razak confirmed the incident, saying that the police received an emergency call from MERS999 regarding an alleged suicide at Binai Bridge.
Following the call, an investigating officer was dispatched to the scene and met a witness who reported seeing a man, approximately 70 years old, standing on the bridge railing before jumping into the Padas River at around 3.45pm.
Azmir said that on the same day, the missing man’s son filed a police report after finding his father’s white Proton Iswara near Binai Bridge.
The son also identified a pair of brown rubber slippers left in the middle of the bridge as belonging to his father, adding that his father had previously threatened suicide during family disputes.
