MMEA initiative to promote patriotism

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has introduced several initiatives under the Kembara Maritim Jalur Gemilang 2026 programme to strengthen its engagement with local communities.

Sabah and Labuan Maritime Director First Admiral (Maritime) Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali said the initiatives were introduced at several locations in conjunction with the programme and in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration of Kesejahteraan Dinikmati.

He said the initiatives included Kotak Kembara Cilik in Nabawan, Pek Kembara Cilik and Kotak Kembara Sejahtera in Kalabakan, as well as Beg Kembara Sejahtera and Malaysia Tanah Airku, Saya Sayang Sabah in Semporna.

“Pek Kembara Sejahtera will next be introduced in Paitan before being expanded to other stops along the Kembara route,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Mohd Khairulanuar said the initiatives aimed to foster love for the country and instil patriotic values among local communities.

“Through these initiatives, Maritime Malaysia is not only conveying messages on the safety and sovereignty of the country’s waters, but also strengthening relations with communities through a closer, more inclusive and impactful approach,” he said.

He said Sabah and Labuan MMEA would continue to strengthen community-based programmes throughout the State.

The programmes would also promote the message that safeguarding national sovereignty was not limited to the country’s waters, he added.

Mohd Khairulanuar said the responsibility also began with public awareness and a strong spirit of patriotism among communities throughout Sabah.
