Moderate to heavy rains in Metro Manila, other areas in Luzon, Visayas up until early Thursday – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains are forecast in Metro Manila and other areas anytime on Wednesday to about 5 a.m. on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Weather Specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said in Filipino in Pagasa's 5 p.m. Public Weather Forecast that the southwest monsoon was still the cause of rains "in a big portion of our landmass, especially" in Central and Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

She said heavy and almost continuous rains was expected in Occidental Mindoro.

She said moderate to heavy rains could be experienced at any time "in the next 24 hours" in Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, the rest of Mimaropa, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Aklan, and Antique.

As to rest of Luzon, the rest of the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula, de la Cruz said that light to moderate rains and thunderstorms could be experienced "in the next 24 hours" because of the southwest monsoon.

As to the rest of Mindanao, she said in Filipino and English that, "Generally, only localized thunderstorms could be experienced."
