Monsoon rains will prevail over most parts of Luzon, Visayas —Pagasa

The southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rain to most parts of Luzon and the Visayas within the next 24 hours, state weather agency Pagasa said early Saturday morning.

Pagasa's 4 a.m. weather bulletin indicates that monsoon rains will particularly affect Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, and Bataan. Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique will experience occasional rains.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and Mindanao, particularly in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur. The rest of Mindanao could also experience localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rains or during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Dolphin was located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 810 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon, bearing maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 190 kph, moving southwestward at 15 kph. (TMT)
