IPOH – A mother and her two daughters were found dead in a room at a house in Bandar Baru Tambun here on Thursday night.

Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received information about the incident at about 9.10pm.

He said checks at the scene found that all three victims - a 46-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged 12 and 11 - were locals.

"All three victims were found dead in a room of the house.

"A container believed to contain the remains of burnt charcoal was also found in the room," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said initial checks conducted by the police forensic team together with forensic medical experts found no injuries or signs of foul play on the victims' bodies.

He said the case has been classified as sudden death but investigations are continuing to determine the actual cause of the incident.

"A post-mortem is scheduled to be carried out on Friday to complete investigations.

"Members of the public are advised not to speculate or spread unverified information until investigations are complete," he said.
