KUALA PENYU: A twenty-two-year-old motorcyclist, Rayner Binat @ Richard from Kampung Gorowot, died after crashing into the rear of an Isuzu lorry along Jalan Kayul near Kampung Bundu, in Kuala Penyu last Sunday.

Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Wong Leong Meng said the victim, a security guard, collided while attempting to overtake three vehicles as the lorry, driven by 35-year-old Cheah Pect Yenn from Kampung Rimbaan, was turning right into Jalan Batung.

”The lorry was travelling from Kuala Penyu towards Beaufort when the accident occurred. The impact threw the victim and his Yamaha R15 motorcycle onto the roadside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver was unharmed. The body was taken to Hospital Kuala Penyu for post-mortem,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In a separate incident, another vehicle skidded into a roadside drain nearby, but no police report was lodged.
