In a rare and stunning display of democratic integrity, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin bravely calls for investigations into four of his own MPs who are now supporting Anwar Ibrahim (PMX), suspecting criminal intimidation by the other side.
We were hoping he would have done this sooner, not wait until four to turn coat and appeal to sit on the bench away from the opposition block. Anyway, it's still not too late for him to hang on to what he has left.
Because nothing says democracy like suppressing differing opinions and questioning everyone who doesn't conform to the ruling coalition's agenda.
Oh, the suspense! Gua Musang MP rejected an offer, mysteriously shifted allegiance, and now Muhyiddin smells something against the rules.
It's like a political soap opera, only with less transparency and more accusations. But fear not, Bersatu is on the case, ready to file complaints and suspicions faster than you can say “political intrigue.”
And let's not forget the disciplined approach – a six-year suspension here, a four-year one there (ala UMNO). Because nothing deters political rebellion like a timeout.
But wait, there's more! Muhyiddin suggests fine-tuning anti-party hopping provisions, as if a little tweaking will magically fix the apparent discontent within his ranks. What a genius!
But the pièce de résistance?
Criticizing the Speaker for bias, implying decisions by the Chair are influenced by party allegiance. (The speaker is from PKR, PMX's own party.)
Because in the grand theatre of Malaysian politics, who needs impartiality when you can point fingers and cry foul play?
This is how democracy is at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
Or at least, that's how we play the game in this lovely country of ours where everything is always fair in love and politics.
