MUNTINLUPA City Mayor Ruffy Biazon on Monday demanded answers from water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services after households in several villages experienced low to no water over the weekend.
Residents in Alabang, Bayanan, Poblacion, Putatan, and Tunasan reported limited or no water supply after Maynilad Water Services warned customers on Feb. 15 that service disruptions could occur from 1 p.m. that day until 3 a.m. Feb. 16.
The company attributed the interruption to strong winds over Laguna Lake, which caused “variable raw water quality” and limited the supply treated at its plants.
The announcement triggered widespread complaints from residents who rely on regular piped water for daily needs.
Many voiced their frustration on social media and village channels, reporting difficulty with basic tasks like cooking, cleaning and bathing.
In response, the city deployed five tanker trucks on Monday to deliver potable water to affected areas, including Soldiers Hills, Poblacion, and coastal sections of Putatan, Bayanan, and Tunasan.
Biazon said he has called on Maynilad officials to appear before the city government to explain the cause of the disruption and present concrete steps to prevent similar incidents.
“The public deserves clarity on why this widespread interruption happened and what will be done to ensure this does not happen again,” he said.
