Following concerns over data security and the handling of users’ location data through Waze, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has encouraged Malaysians to consider switching to an alternative navigation app.
The move came amid concerns over potential security risks involving Waze, which operates under Israeli laws, leading the government to prohibit civil servants from using the app.

Malaysians encouraged to consider TuJu as an alternative to Waze
Anwar has since encouraged Malaysians to consider using TuJu, a local navigation app developed through a partnership between the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and Prosignal Consortium Sdn. Bhd. in 2022.
The strategic partnership aims to develop a comprehensive and smart highway navigation system by combining Prosignal Consortium’s technical expertise with LLM’s experience in highway operations.
According to TuJu, the goal is to provide efficient information and updates to motorists, serving as “Your Travel Companion on Malaysian Highways”.

What can TuJu do for your next road trip?
1. Navigation and estimated arrival time (ETA)
Get route guidance, check travel distances and see your estimated arrival time to help plan your journey.

2. Highway CCTV access
View camera footage from selected highway locations to check traffic conditions and spot possible disruptions before hitting the road, find rest and recreation (R&R) areas, and get real-time traffic updates.

3. Petrol station
Find rest and recreation (R&R) areas, lay-bys, petrol stations, food outlets, toilets, surau (prayer hall) and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations where available.

4. Road issue reporting
You can also use the linked MyJalan app (Apple App Store / Google Play Store) by the Ministry of Works to report road damage, faulty traffic lights and other infrastructure issues.

5. Emergency assistance
Quickly access emergency contacts, including those of highway concessionaires.

LLM responds to complaints over TuJu app’s technical issues
After more Malaysians tried TuJu for themselves, LLM has acknowledged feedback from users who experienced technical issues with the app.
“LLM apologised for the inconvenience and said it is working with the app provider, Prosignal Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB), to identify the cause of the disruptions and restore system stability. Both parties are also working to improve the app’s capacity to handle the growing number of users.”
Beyond addressing the technical issues, LLM is also looking into feedback about TuJu’s navigation features, route accuracy and overall user experience. The authority said further improvements will be made to ensure the app offers a more stable, accurate and user-friendly service.
You can download the TuJu app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or its official website.
