Kevin Wildes has sparked another New England Patriots debate on X, with Stefon Diggs back in the spotlight after a possible change of heart.
The veteran wide receiver is no longer in New England after being released after one season, but his exit has not ended the wider conversation around him.
That is because Diggs still gave the Patriots real production, and any return talk now has to be judged against a receiver room that already looks different.
Stefon Diggs’ return talk has a clear reason behind it

Diggs was not a failed Patriots signing on the field. He produced 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns across 17 regular-season games.
That matters because reunion talk is easier to understand when the player has already shown he can function in the offence. The question is not whether Diggs can still contribute.
It is whether the Patriots would revisit the cost and role after his 2026 cap charge was set to climb sharply, making the original split easier to understand.
There has also been a locker-room thread to the story, with former teammates still liking the idea of a reunion. That keeps the subject alive without making a deal likely.
Patriots receiver changes make any reunion more complicated
The Patriots have also moved on in a major way since Diggs left. The arrival of A.J. Brown changes how any Diggs return would be viewed.
Brown gives Drake Maye a different receiver picture. That means Diggs would not simply be returning to fill the same role he held before.
That is why the Wildes post on X is interesting rather than decisive. It reopens a question, but the Patriots would still have to weigh fit, salary, and hierarchy.
Diggs’ name still carries weight in New England. A return can be discussed, but it would now need to make football and financial sense.
