New Indonesian Consul in Tawau

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor received a courtesy call from the new Consul of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) in Tawau, Dino Nurwahyudin, at Menara Kinabalu, Wednesday.

Dino said the visit aimed to officially introduce himself to the Chief Minister after assuming his duties as Head of Mission at KRI Tawau on July 9, alongside discussing his goals and proposals throughout his tenure in Sabah.

He said the meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and identify areas to be explored to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Sabah and Indonesia.

“The relations between Indonesia and Sabah are exceptionally close and have been established for a long time. We also hope to see more direct flights connecting Indonesia and Sabah to facilitate integration between the people of both regions,” he said.

Dino possesses extensive experience in the diplomatic service, including having served as Counsellor at the Republic of Indonesia Embassy in Kuala Lumpur as well as holding various positions within the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry and Indonesian diplomatic missions overseas.

He also previously served at KRI Tawau in Information, Social and Cultural affairs from 2024 to 2025 before being appointed Head of Mission at KRI Tawau.

Also present was his wife, Gain Nrangwesty.
