Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth deputy chief Rockey Jerome Budin has officially withdrawn from contesting the Youth chief post in the party's election to preserve party unity and stability.
Rockey said he decided to give full support to the new leadership line-up and allow the party to focus entirely on preparations for the upcoming general election without internal friction.
With his withdrawal, Rockey has paved the way for incumbent Datuk Christoper Mandut to lead the central PBS Youth wing uncontested.
Several other candidates also withdrew from their respective contests, allowing Stanley Leo (deputy Youth chief - blue quota), Mohd Khairol Majde (deputy Youth chief - yellow quota), and Kevin Jon Johnny (vice chief - blue quota) to win their positions uncontested.
Christoper welcomed the move, calling on all youth members to set aside past factional divisions and unite as a single team under the PBS president.
