
A distinguished delegation from Norway, representing leading academic institutions including the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), OsloMet University and Oslo University, visited Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, to explore avenues for academic, research and institutional collaboration.
The delegation is scheduled to stay at the university for the next two days, during which it will engage with faculty members, departments and researchers across the university to identify potential areas for collaboration and to explore meaningful joint research initiatives.
The Norwegian delegation comprised professors, financial advisors and researchers from diverse science and engineering disciplines.
The visiting members included Prof Maneesh Singh, Prof Ramis, Prof Sam Woodford, Senior Advisor Havard Skibened, Advisor Elham Shams and researchers Johannes, Solveig, Jonas and Zacharias. The delegation represented a broad spectrum of academic and research interests associated with prominent Norwegian universities, including HVL, OsloMet University and Oslo University.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university here on Thursday.
During the interaction, the VC apprised them of the diverse academic and research activities being undertaken at HPU. He highlighted the University’s growing contributions in emerging and interdisciplinary areas, including green energy, materials science, electric vehicles, engineering, science and humanities, along with several ongoing research, innovation and capacity-building initiatives.
The VC also emphasised the importance of strengthening international academic engagement and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships through collaborative research, student mobility and faculty exchange programmes.
He said the visiting delegation is actively exploring collaboration opportunities within the university ecosystem with the shared objective of developing impactful, sustainable and internationally relevant research partnerships in the future.
He said the visit would pave the way for long-term institutional collaborations between HPU and Norwegian universities, particularly HVL, OsloMet University and Oslo University.
