MANILA, Philippines — Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) based in South Korea are expected to get a pay hike this year, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said on Friday.

Its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in that country said that for this year, the mandatory hourly minimum wage was set at 10,230 Korean won (P414.51), up from 10,030 won from last year.

This means that the average monthly wage would be 2,156,880 won (P87,394.57), based on 209 working hours per month or a standard 40-hour workweek.

The new wage applies to all industries, and would include those under the Employment Permit System (EPS) in manufacturing and caregiving sectors.

The DMW said this was in line with “the principle of equal treatment.” “The new minimum hourly wage rate took effect on January 1, 2026, following the consensus resolution adopted by the Korean Minimum Wage Commission during its 12th plenary meeting held in July 2025 at the Sejong Government Complex,” the DMW said in a statement.
