One simple trick to ease into daylight saving time as most US clocks will ‘fall back’

  • Most Americans will gain an extra hour of sleep on Sunday as daylight saving time comes to an end, with clocks turning back one hour at 2am local time.
  • Hawaii and parts of Arizona remain exempt from the change, with standard time lasting until clocks “spring forward” again on 14 March.
  • The biannual clock change remains deeply unpopular in the US, with an AP-NORC poll showing just 12 per cent of adults support daylight saving time.
  • The earlier darkness reduces post-work sunlight, posing challenges for sleep-deprived individuals, shift workers, and those suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
  • Experts recommend gradually shifting bedtimes by 15 minutes each night and getting morning sunlight to help synchronise the body's internal clock.
