Now that we are going into another election, allow us to help jog the memory of our PMX over some of the promises he and other fellow party leaders of the coalition made on the campaign trails during GE15.
Hopefully, they would be motivated to act on them now that they have the means to fulfil these pledges.
At the same time, they ought to be mindful not to make any more in coming state elections since they already have many pledges yet unfulfilled.
The general consensus is that PMX and PH leadership have not fulfilled most of their promises after seven months in power.
We are not belittling them in any way but we are certain the public would love to see some of the major promises become part of their daily lives because they did fall for pledges made by PMX and his partners in the coalition.
On social media, there have been quite a few comments suggesting that promises made ought to be fulfilled. One in particular that I find most interesting, wrote on a Facebook page reminding PMX that many promises await his immediate attention.
- Abolish tol ❌
- Reduce petrol price ❌
- Strengthen the Ringgit ❌
- Wipe out cronyism & nepotism ❌
- PM not to hold finance portfolio ❌
For instance, the price of petrol has not decreased as he promised after seven months.
This was the most touted subject on the campaign trails. Video clips of PKR and PH leaders making those pledges are currently circulating on social media, reminding us of empty promises made to win elections.
Neither is tol abolished on highways and expressways.
Then, there are the promises made about not appointing cronies or political appointees onto government-linked companies. We are sure you know how many political appointees close to the ruling coalition are now heading these organisations.
We are surprised at the audacity of one particular chief in the coalition who openly appoints his cronies to head major government agencies despite negative reports against them.
Anyway, not waiting for a reply from PMX, the same social media user commented that what happened is that cement price is down instead of petrol and so is the ringgit which has plummets to its lowest against the US dollar in recent years.
On the other hand, BNM raised OPR, followed by a higher cost of living, which burdens the rakyat made worse by reducing financial assistance to B40/M40.
On the question of corruption, many are saying PMX ought not to appoint an individual facing 47 charges as DPM and stop cronyism and nepotism that it swore to eliminate.
PMX should know those whom he appointed, whether they are cronies or members of his family. Both can not possibly be condoned by a party that has sworn to eliminate them.
But most of all, the rakyat would like to see PMX give up the post of Finance Minister to another, thereby living up to his coalition's promise that a PM is not allowed to hold that portfolio.
PMX must act honourably by fulfilling promises made during the GE15 campaign or whatever he pledges next in coming state elections might not be taken seriously at all. They might even sound hollow to the rakyat.
PMX's credibility is at stake, so act wisely.
