Recently, the President of UMNO and Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN) will no longer be part of the Unity Government once Parliament is dissolved.
A general election must take place within 60 days after Parliament is dissolved.
Once Parliament is dissolved, the Unity government automatically becomes a Caretaker Government of Malaysia and remains in power until a new government is sworn in after the general election.
Does the `no longer be part of the Unity government’ extends to include BN will be staying as part of Caretaker government too?
Malaysians already saw the signs that BN and PH will go their separate ways going into the 16th GE.
And bouyed by its success in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan elections, it would be crazy for BN not to pursue this route.
So obvious.
The President of UMNO and Chairman of BN should let Malaysians know that if BN failed to secure a simple ruling majority on its own, would they agree to enter into a pact with another political coalition or coalitions to form a government like what happened post the 15th GE?
Would BN/UMNO join a government that includes PH for a Unity government 2.0?
Majority of Malaysians have heard this phrase repeated so often before and during the 15th GE in Nov 2022.
Before and during the 15th GE in Nov 2022, UMNO officially maintained a strict "No PKR, No DAP" policy.
BN repeatedly denied rumors of an agreement with PH, asserting they were running independently to secure a majority.
Factions within the party consistently echoed the resolution against working with PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim or the DAP.
UMNO can justify that the pivot then to form a Unity government with PH was on the decree by the then YDP Agong.
Assuming the results in the 16th GE mirrors what happened in the 15th GE and assuming that a collaboration between BN/UMNO and PAS is still insufficient for them to have that magic number of 112 to form a governmentand the present YDP Agong is to decree the same, would UMNO / BN pivot the same and form a unity government with PH?
