Work from home.
Sounds nice, kan?
Less traffic. Less stress. Less petrol.
At least, that’s what they want you to believe.
But let’s ask the real question no one wants to answer:
Who actually saves money?
Because when you stay home, your life doesn’t suddenly become cheaper.
You switch off your car…
but you switch on your house.
Aircond running from morning to night.
Laptop, WiFi, lights, chargers.
Lunch at home, coffee at home, everything… at home.
And then at the end of the month?
Electricity bill naik.
Meanwhile, what happens on the government side?
Less people on the road.
Less petrol consumed.
Less subsidies paid.
Simple math.
Rakyat tukar petrol → electricity.
Kerajaan tukar subsidy → savings.
So let’s not pretend this is purely about “helping the people.”
Yes, global issues are real.
Yes, fuel prices are unstable.
Yes, Selat Hormuz, geopolitics, semua itu memang effect.
But don’t spin it like rakyat are the biggest winners here.
Because the reality is this:
You save maybe RM10 - RM20 on petrol.
But your TNB bill quietly naik RM50 - RM100.
And nobody talks about that.
This is the new Malaysia now.
Policies that sound like relief…
but feel like shifting burden.
From government… to you.
And the question we should all be asking is simple:
If both sides are “saving”…
why does it feel like only one side is actually winning?
