MANILA, Philippines — More than 6,300 families have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Luis as it continued to bring heavy rains and disrupt sea travel, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (Ndrrmc) said Monday.
The agency said 6,316 families were affected by the weather disturbance in Regions 5 (Bicol), 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region involving 4,447 persons.
The agency reported no deaths, injuries, or missing persons.
Seven areas remained flooded, all located in Region 9 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
Sea travel was also disrupted, with nine trips canceled in Calabarzon and Region 5.
The cancellations left 477 passengers stranded, along with 47 rolling cargoes and five vessels in ports in Region 5 and Calabarzon.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development has so far provided P280,500 worth of assistance to affected residents in Region 5.
Government agencies continue to monitor the effects of Tropical Cyclone Luis and coordinate response efforts in the affected areas.
