THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced Friday the safe repatriation of 25 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia, Hungary and the M/V Abashie, registered under the flag of Cameroon.
Of the group, eight arrived from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 aboard Cebu Pacific Flight 5J741, while the nine from Hungary arrived via China Eastern Flight MU211.
Meanwhile, the eight from the M/V Abashie arrived aboard Turkish Airlines Flight TK084.
OWWA said that the workers were repatriated due to distress and employment issues. They were provided assistance by the OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers. All underwent medical checkups courtesy of the Manila International Airport Authority medical team.
OWWA did not provide further details on the circumstances that led to the return of the distressed OFWs from Riyadh and Hungary.
