Palace to Pulong: Show proof of finished flood control projects

MALACAÑANG on Thursday urged Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte to show evidence and submit documentation confirming that completed flood control projects in his district exist on the ground and are not merely recorded on paper.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro issued the challenge after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla called Davao City the "epicenter" of flood control corruption.

Duterte denied the claim and dared the Ombudsman to investigate all public works projects beyond his term, claiming that he has documents to prove that the flood control projects under his leadership were completed.

In a palace briefing, Castro said that while Duterte claimed to hold records validating the infrastructure work, he failed to submit statements or supporting evidence when summoned by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

“He should have done this earlier. He has the documents to prove that the flood control projects that he did are complete, so it should have been done since then. He has been wanted by the ICI for a long time. And he did not submit anything," Castro said in Filipino.
