In Sept 2024, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis—the four states under Perikatan Nasional (PN)—formed the SG4 (State Government 4) cooperation and appointed former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their chief economic adviser.
A joint business entity named SG4 Group Sdn Bhd was established, with each state holding an equal 25% equity stake to ensure equitable revenue sharing and wealth distribution.
Dr Mahathir reportedly said the company will focus on five key sectors including economy and industry, green technology, infrastructure and logistics, trade and investment, and agriculture and food security, as well as education and human capital with each participating state appointing an executive council (exco) member to lead each cluster.
Terengganu Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar reportedly said that in the two to three years before the next GE, which should be held no later than Feb 2028, the four states would prove their potential.
As at Aug 2026, it is less than 18 months to Feb 2028, less than the two to three years that the Terenganu Mentri Besar and also the Chairman of PN promised that SG4 Group Sdn Bhd would prove their potential.
Maybe it is time for the Chairman of PN to reveal to the ordinary rakyat the status of SG4 Group Sdn Bhd.
As all the 4 states are governed and adminstered by PAS, the party needs to adopt an aggressive position of proving itself as an alternative ruling coalition, that they performed and delivered the promises they revealed to the public in Sept 2024 when they announced the formation of the SG4 grouping.
PAS should show all Malaysians that their SG4 initiative is a success and that is the reason why Malaysians should vote for them and the coalition they are in, PN, in the next GE.
Revealing the success of the SG4 Group formation is crucial for the voters to assess the capability of PAS to lead and govern the country.
