MANILA, Philippines—The Pasay City government and the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) on Wednesday advised motorists and commuters to avoid J.W. Diokno Boulevard as various groups continue to flock to the Senate following the Senate leadership shake-up and the attempted arrest of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
The advisory said rallyists, supporters, protesters, and media personnel were expected to gather near the Senate complex.
Authorities said the northbound lanes of J.W. Diokno Boulevard, particularly near Seaside IKO and the Senate, would be temporarily closed to prevent traffic congestion caused by the protest actions.
The political tension escalated after dela Rosa resurfaced at the Senate earlier this week, following months of absence, and NBI agents pursued him to serve the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
The Pasay TPMO warned motorists to expect heavy traffic throughout the day and urged the public to take alternative routes to avoid delays and inconvenience.
