THE Pasig City government announced Thursday the completion of an P11.4-million road and drainage project in Bagong Ilog village.
Located at Pvt. Aurellana Street and F. Intalan Street, the project includes drainage construction, sidewalk rehabilitation, and road asphalting.
Mayor Vico Sotto said the city government was proud not only of the initiative but also of the governance reforms behind it.
“The truth is anyone can do these infra projects. What we are most proud of is the system that we’ve built in the last seven years — especially from planning to procurement,” Sotto said in a social media post.
He added that better pricing and more responsive project designs were among the positive results of reforms implemented by the city government.
Sotto said safeguards such as inclusive budget processes and capacity-building programs for civil society organization observers during bidding procedures were helpful in strengthening transparency and accountability.
“These reforms will be difficult to reverse in the future,” Sotto said.
Along Pvt. Aurellana Street, the city constructed a concrete hollow block-lined canal and asphalted portions of the road spanning nearly 700 linear meters.
The project cost P5.64 million and was completed in 2025.
Along F. Intalan Street, the local government implemented rehabilitation and concreting of sidewalks and built a reinforced concrete box culvert spanning 322 linear meters.
The F. Intalan Street project cost P5.76 million and was completed in March 2026.
Safety bollards were also installed along sidewalks to provide additional protection for pedestrians. JAMES DANIEL DANIO
