MANILA, Philippines — The PBA Office of the Commissioner slapped a P20,000 fine on mercurial Converge forward Calvin Abueva last Monday following his post-game rant against officiating in the FiberXers’ 99-93 loss to the Barangay Ginebra Kings.

Abueva’s post-game rant happened while he was on his way back to the team’s dugout shortly after Converge dropped its fourth straight game in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup last Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The “Beast” shouted “Paldo referee” and “apat silang paldo” as he expressed his disappointment in a rant that was caught on video by some media outlets.

The 38-year-old Abueva suited up by didn’t play. He managed to escape suspension for his act.

Converge managed to control the match in the first half, before allowing Ginebra to explode for 39 points in the third canto.

The Gin Kings went on to dictate the tempo from there, leading to their second win in three starts.
