PBA: Titan Ultra survives gritty Macau

MANILA, Philippines — Titan Ultra led by as many as 29 points but had to hold off Macau’s blazing second half rally to pull off a 132-128 payback win in their PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Giant Risers erected their biggest lead at 66-37 and looked headed for an easy victory.

But the Giant Pandas staged a massive fightback from there behind import De’Vodre Perry, Damian Chongqui, Ramon Cao and Jeffrey Ma’s combined efforts.

The foreign guest squad’s rally fell short in the end, allowing Titan Ultra to end its two-game losing skid, redeem itself from a 132-126 loss in their first round meeting, and galvanize its quarterfinal chances in the process.

Titan Ultra and Macau are now tied at 2-5 in Group A.

Tirrell Brown led Titan Ultra with 36 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Joshua Munzon added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Roi Sumang and Bryan Sajonia 14 and 13.

Perry led the Giant Pandas with 45 points and 14 rebounds, Ramon Cao 24 and 12, while Chongqui and Ma 18 each.
