SP Deepak Saharan and Congress leader Santosh Beniwal lead the cyclothon in Sirsa on Saturday.

The Sirsa police on Friday organised a cyclothon in Haryana’s Darba Kalan village to spread awareness against drug abuse and encourage the youth to stay away from narcotics.

The rally, held under the Nathusari Chopta police station area, covered around 13 km and passed through nearby villages. Police officials, residents and the youth participated in the event.

Addressing the gathering, Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan said the campaign was aimed at creating awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and taking the message of a drug-free society to villages. He said drug addiction affected not only individuals but also families and society.

Saharan also appealed to parents to remain alert and maintain regular communication with their children, saying mental stress often pushed the youngsters towards substance abuse.

The cyclothon started from Darba Kalan village and covered around 13 kilometres via Nathusari Chopta. During the event, the participating youths also pledged to spread the anti-drug message door-to-door. 540 accused arrested in 295 NDPS cases since October 2025.
