University of Perpetual Help System Dalta guns for its second win in NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball tournament on Wedensday at San Andres Gym in Malate, Manila.
The Lady Altas, who opened their season with a hard-earned five-set victory over defending champion College of St. Benilde on Sunday, will take on Jose Rizal University at 11 a.m. for their second game of the season.
The Lady Bombers will try to bounce back from a four-set setback against the Lady Stags of San Sebastian last Saturday.
Perpetual Help is expected to lean on Cyrille Almeniana, who recorded a game high 27 points and 12 digs against the Lady Blazers on Sunday.
That win against St. Benilde was the first for Las Piñas-based school since 2019 when Perpetual Help lost in the Final Four.
Taking it one game at a time, Perpetual Help coach Sandy Rieta wanted his team forget about their big win against St. Benilde and focus on JRU, which he considers a dangerous team.
"I told them, let winning be an inspiration and stay hungry and focus on every game." Rieta said during practice at the Home of the Altas gym in Las Piñas on Tuesday.
Aside from Almeniana, Rieta can also lean on setter Fianne Ariola, middle blocker Charisse Enrico and libero Joanna Denise Lozano, who played well last Sunday.
In the other women’s game, San Beda and Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) will clash at 2:30 p.m.
The Perpetual Help men’s team, meanwhile, will aim to score its first win of the season when it battles JRU Heavy Bombers at 8 a.m.
The San Beda Red Lions will cap the day’s schedule against the EAC Generals at 5 p.m.
