KOTA KINABALU: Responding swiftly to complaints from residents whose homes were damaged by strong winds and heavy rain last week, volunteers from Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Tanjung Aru distributed roofing materials and timber in the Tanjung Aru and Sembulan areas.

The relief programme, led by Dr. Ritchie Jay Cheng and his volunteer team, he said reflected PGRS’s commitment to practical action and people-first politics.

The initiative he said was mobilised immediately after community concerns were channelled.

“For us, politics is not just about speeches on stage, but about real action that touches the hearts of the people.

"What we did today (Monday) is only a small part of our responsibility to ensure the voices and needs of Tanjung Aru and Sembulan are protected,” said Dr. Ritchie.

He also thanked the volunteers for tirelessly assisting affected families, stressing that while this programme offers temporary relief, long-term solutions remain essential.

Dr. Ritchie reiterated PGRS Tanjung Aru's commitment to serve as a bridge between the people and the government in channelling aid, promoting constructive, solution-oriented politics.

The priority, he added, is ensuring that every citizen, regardless of background, receives proper support in times of hardship.
