Kota Kinabalu: Parti Kebangsaan Sabah (PKS) President Thomas Anggan (pic) confirmed it will field 40 candidates in the Nov. 29 State election.
“PKS remains steadfast as a local political movement for Sabah, independent of alliances or coalitions with parties from Peninsular Malaysia. Our singular focus is to champion the rights of our people and the progress of our state,” Thomas said.
Deputy President Alizan Abdul Majid, also the party’s director of strategy and political planning, is expected to contest the Liawan constituency.
Thomas, a former Bingkor assemblyman under Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), hinted at PKS’s ambition to field candidates in all constituencies within the Keningau and Pensiangan parliamentary areas.
The party’s platform focuses on critical issues such as corruption, native customary rights (NCR) land disputes, and land acquisitions by vested interests and external companies, which PKS identifies as major sources of discontent in rural communities.
It named Danny Anthony Andipai as the party’s information chief and candidate for Nabawan.
He contested the 2008 general election for the Pensiangan parliamentary seat and took Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup (now deceased) to court.
