PLDT downs Akari to notch second straight PVL On Tour win

MANILA, Philippines — The PLDT High Speed Hitters continued their strong start to the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour, escaping the Akari Chargers in four sets, 25-14, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Gymnasium in Lanao del Norte.

PLDT secured its second consecutive victory to improve to a 2-0 win-loss record, keeping pace with the league-leading ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.

Savi Davison spearheaded the High Speed Hitters with 22 points built on 19 attacks, two blocks, and an ace. She also made her presence felt on defense with nine excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions.

Kianna Dy chipped in nine points for PLDT, while Mika Reyes, Alleiah Malaluan, Majoy Baron, and Jovie Prado each added six markers.

Kath Arado anchored the High Speed Hitters’ floor defense with 19 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions, while setter Kim Fajardo tallied 16 excellent sets.

Akari drew 12 points from Faith Nisperos, while Chenie Tagaod added eight. Ivy Lacsina and Gretchel Soltones were limited to seven points apiece as the Chargers slipped to a 1-2 record.
