THE Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour heads to Lanao del Norte with PLDT and Akari bannering the main event of the double-header on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Gymnasium.
The PLDT-Akari duel begins at 6:30 p.m. right after the match between Farm Fresh and Nxlex at 4 p.m.
PLDT scored a 25-21, 20-25, 29-27, 25-18 win over Choco Mucho in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on July 25 to open their campaign with a victory.
The High Speed Hitters relied on the offensive prowess of Kianna Dy, who churned out 17 points in the win over the fan-favorite Titans. She drew support from Savannah Davison, Mika Reyes, and Majoy Baron who scored 13, 12, and 10 points, respectively.
Despite the win, Dy said that the team still has a lot of work to do.
“It was really an intense game, one is to one, and to Choco Mucho they’re very hard opponent and it’s good that the bench performed. Obviously, we need to work on a lot of things for our next games, so we need to adjust,” said Dy.
Akari (1-1) also scored a 27-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-22 win against Choco Mucho on Aug. 1.
Akari was led by Chenie Tagaod, Ivy Lacsina and Grethcel Soltones who scored 19, 14, and 10 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Farm Fresh (0-1) is eyeing to snatch its first win in tournament when it battles Nxled (2-1).
Farm Fresh opened the tournament with a setback to Galeries Tower on June 11.
Nxled opened its campaign with a loss over 11-time champion Creamline, but bounced back with back-to-back wins over Capital 1 in Vigan and Galeries Tower in South Cotabato.
The PVL On Tour is an exhibition match across the provinces, with matches serving purely as pre-season exhibitions and tune-up games.
