PAPAR: Police have launched a manhunt after a 27-year-old was left injured on both arms following an armed robbery near the Melinsung Summer Bay Resort Apartments, here, Thursday.

According to District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka, the incident occurred at about 1.30am when the victim, a vegetable seller who was with his fiancé, decided to make a pit stop near the apartments after making a delivery in Kota Kinabalu.

“The victim and his fiancé stopped at the scene to have a meal at one of the restaurants at the shoplots. Upon parking their vehicle, a Perodua Myvi made a sudden stop near the victims before an individual approached his fiancé with a sharp object believed to be a Samurai sword,” he said.

Kamaruddin said the suspect, who was wearing a helmet at that time, grabbed the woman’s bag before the victim intervened which led to a struggle between the assailant and the victim.
