AT least five drug suspects were arrested by operatives of the Eastern Police District (EPD), scoring a significant gain in its anti-illegal drug campaign, and seizing more than P204,000 worth of illegal drugs in Marikina City.
Authorities said they conducted the operation at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday along Jasmin Street, Twinville Subdivision, Barangay Concepcion Uno.
Confiscated from the suspects were eight sachets containing 30.01 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated price of P204,680 along with the marked money used in the operation.
The arrested suspects were taken to the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) for documentation and processing before charges were filed against them for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, at the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
"This operation reflects the Eastern Police District's commitment to pursue individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade. Every gram of illegal drugs removed from our streets represents lives protected, families safeguarded, and communities made safer. We will continue to strengthen our intelligence and enforcement efforts to ensure that those who profit from this illegal activity are held accountable before the law," BGen. Roman Arugay, district director, said.
