PARTI Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) has made a breakthrough in its maiden electoral outing, securing three of the four state seats it contested in the Negeri Sembilan election under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner.

The party, led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, emerged victorious in the state constituencies of Klawang, Sikamat and Gemas, marking its first major electoral success.

In Gemas, PN-Wawasan candidate Ridzuan Ahmad secured a comfortable win with 13,449 votes, defeating Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Siti Aishah Seman Othman, who received 2,731 votes, and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) candidate Azman Abdullah, who polled 880 votes.

Ridzuan won the seat with a majority of 10,718 votes.

Wawasan also retained its momentum in Sikamat, where Datuk Razali Abu Samah defeated PH’s Nor Azman Mohamad and Bersatu’s Tun Faisal Ismail.

Razali received 11,789 votes, compared with Nor Azman’s 9,177 votes and Tun Faisal’s 442 votes, giving him a majority of 2,612 votes.

The closest contest came in Klawang, where Danni Rais edged out PH’s Bakri Sawir and Bersatu’s Adib Musa in a three-cornered fight.

Danni secured 746 votes, narrowly defeating Bakri, who received 683 votes, while Adib polled 83 votes. The victory margin stood at just 63 votes.

Wawasan’s strong showing came despite the party being a relatively new player in the state’s political landscape.

For the Negeri Sembilan election, PN contested 11 of the 36 state seats, with PAS fielding five candidates, Wawasan four, while Gerakan and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) each contested one seat.

The four seats contested by Wawasan were Gemas, Klawang, Sikamat and Mambau.

Meanwhile, PAS leaders gathered at the party’s state headquarters in Kampung Ismail, Ampangan, to monitor the election results alongside PN leadership and supporters.

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang arrived at the operations centre on Saturday night, where supporters had gathered to follow the latest developments after polling ended.

Based on unofficial results received at the centre, PN was also leading in several other constituencies, including Serting, Ampangan, Paroi and Bagan Pinang.

PAS, representing PN in those contests, fielded Ustaz Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa in Serting, P M Kumar in Lobak, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek in Ampangan, Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zain in Paroi and Ustaz Abdul Fatah Zakaria in Bagan Pinang.

The atmosphere at the PAS operations centre remained calm, with supporters closely following updates while awaiting official announcements from the Election Commission. – August 1, 2026
