SHAH ALAM – Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias has retained the Pertang state seat with a majority of 3,719 votes, according to official results posted on the Election Commission website.
Jalaluddin, who contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) banner, secured 6,312 votes, defeating Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Mohd Umry Abdul Khois, who obtained 2,593 votes.
Bersatu candidate Mohd Faizal Fadli Mohd Idrus received 367 votes.
The result gives Jalaluddin a 68.08 per cent vote share, compared with 27.97 per cent for PH and 3.96 per cent for Bersatu.
A total of 9,272 votes were recorded from 12,873 registered voters, representing a 72.03 per cent voter turnout.
The victory also sees Jalaluddin increase his majority compared with the 2,790-vote majority he secured when he retained Pertang in the 2023 state election.
The latest result represents a 929-vote increase in his majority.
Jalaluddin, who is also the Jelebu MP, was defending the Pertang seat in a three-cornered contest against Mohd Umry and Faizal.
Pertang has traditionally been a stronghold for Umno, with Jalaluddin previously winning the seat in 2013 before Noor Azmi Yusuf captured it for BN in 2018. Jalaluddin reclaimed it in 2023.
