
MANILA, Philippines — Protesters who gathered in Manila ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) are expected to move to Quezon Avenue near the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City later Monday.
The Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya and other groups said they would join other protesters who have gathered in Quezon City.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said an estimated 100 participants were present as of 8:20 a.m.
Among the groups are the Youth for Nationalism and Democracy, KILUSAN, Lupa Pilipinas, Pangisda Pilipinas, Pamalakaya, Workers for People’s Liberation, Pambansang Kaisahan ng Magkabayang Magbubukid, and Nuclear Free Bataan Movement.
It was a peaceful assembly, authorities said.
