
PUTATAN: A non-permanent house at Kampung Contoh Petagas was destroyed in an early morning fire on Wednesday.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call via Mers999 at 4.56am and deployed a team from the Putatan Fire and Rescue Station, backed by personnel from the Kota Kinabalu station.
Firefighters arrived at the scene four kilometres away at 5.04am to find the 30-by-20-foot wooden structure completely engulfed in flames.
Crews brought the blaze under control within six minutes using two water jets fed by fire engines, with assistance on site from three police personnel.
No casualties were reported, and the operation officially ended at 6.38am after the area was declared safe.
