
SEMPORNA: A morning fire destroyed a wooden house at Kampung Perigi here on Tuesday.
The State Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call regarding the fire at 9.40am via NG999.
A team of eight firefighters in a fire engine and EMRS vehicle from BBP Semporna was deployed to the scene. The operation was also assisted by four firefighters from BBP Air Semporna.
Upon arrival, the operation commander reported that the fire involved a house, which was 100 per cent destroyed.
The team carried out an operation to extinguish the fire using a 200-foot hose line with two nozzles, drawing water from the fire engine and a nearby fire hydrant.
The fire was brought under control at 10.10am. No casualties were reported.
The department added that the operation ended at 11.15am after the team ensured there were no further hazards at the scene.
Fire at Kampung Ranau-Ranau, Sipitang.Meanwhile, in SIPITANG, two semi-permanent and non-permanent houses, each measuring 30ft by 40ft, were 95pc destroyed in a fire at Kampung Ranau-Ranau here on Monday.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Desmond Ak Micky @ Dominic said the station received an emergency call at 5.37pm and dispatched several FRT and Vigo fire engines with six personnel to the scene.
“Firefighting operations were carried out using two 200ft water lines with three nozzles, drawing water from the fire engine tanks,” he said.
He said the fire was brought under control at 6.20pm, with no casualties reported, while firefighting and overhaul operations continued to ensure there were no remaining sources that could cause the fire to recur.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
